Upcoming Events

The Cigars & Boots event will be held a week later than usual, on Sunday, February 12th. That way, we don't collide with the Superbowl celebration at Redwing happening on the usual day.

I will be out of town on Thursday  the 9th - Palm Springs is starting up a new fetishmen's club called Desert Fetish Authority, and I want to be there to show support at their kickoff event.

I made a mistake earlier on the topic for the Feb. 15 Men's Discussion: It's actually "Magnetic Relationships": Positive and Negative Partners.

From what I'm hearing, the Puppy Night at the Eagle is growing rapidly, with lots going on. Here is what Beep told me recently: "Here is our new flyer.  I've been mixing things up and now we have a 'Best in Show' competition. Basically anyone can sign up and I'll call them on stage. I'll have them bark, howl, wag their tails, ask them some fun questions, and let the audience pick their favorite. First and second place winners receive gift cards to Mankind. It was a lot of fun last time and I'm trying to do things to encourage participation into pup play."

The theme of this Saturday's BearNight dance party is Mardi Gras. I plan to be there early… Please join me and my buddies and let's dance!  If you're feeling shy, then just use this winning technique...

-=-=-=- BELT PARTY IN MARCH: MY ANNIVERSARY

On Saturday, March 10th, the next BELT PARTY will be held at Numbers. I'm inviting all of my FMSD buddies to join me there, to help me celebrate 35 full years in the Leather/Kink/Fetish Tribe. There is a lot to celebrate, so let's get started early!

-=-=-=-=- REVIEW OF LL BEAR

I really loved the monthly LL Bear dance party at RICHs this last Saturday night, much to my surprise.  Evidently, the key ingredient that was missing up until now was a dedicated team of party-hosts. The men of ClubClub SD have found a formula that really works, and I was very satisfied. Check out my full review for pictures, video and commentary. I will definitely be in attendance each month, dressed up extra-kinky.  I'm a dancing fool!

-=-=-=-=- MY CUSTOM BOOTS

If you've seen me out lately, you may have noticed my new, custom-ordered Wesco Jobmasters. I finally got around to writing the story of how I got them, with pictures.

As a gesture of support for the Mr. San Diego Eagle 2012 Contest, the usual monthly Beat & Greet has been canceled and attendees are urged to support the contestants!

My Custom-Ordered Kinky Boots

I admit it - I am a seriously twisted boot fetishist.  I have eighteen pairs of boots, and of course, I have my favorites:

I get plenty of good use out of them, believe me:

I recently decided that I had waited for too many years to get what I considered to be my Ultimate Fantasy Boot: The Wesco Jobmaster. I wanted them to look a particular way, and the only way to do it was to order them custom-built from the factory.

I called the Wesco factory in Oregon (NOT CHINA) and ordered the $99 refundable package that contained the measuring form and tape, the DVD and a whole bunch of promotional materials. When it arrived, my boy and I did the full measuring routine, covering my entire leg below the knee, since I was ordering knee-high, twenty-inch boots.

I obsessed over the details, because I knew that I would be wearing them a lot, and that they would last me for the rest of my life if I took good care of them. I also wanted them to be uniquely MINE, as a form of self-expression.

I sent off the measurements and the money, and waited. I asked nicely, and they courteously provided me with photos showing my boots being constructed:

This shows the custom-constructed white-and-black "lasts" that represent my rather unique feet.  The boots were built around them, so that when the boots arrived at my place, they fit my feet EXACTLY.  Somebody recently asked me what size my boots were. I replied "MY size!"

This shows the lasts being extracted before the boots can be completed.

I'm just shallow enough to have specified every single option that would make me taller (exactly 2-1/2" taller, in fact), when wearing the boots:

Why would I do such a thing, when I'm already the tallest guy in the building at every event?  BECAUSE I CAN.  Come on - Wouldn't you love to show up as six foot seven and a half if you could?

The two boots, together, weigh 12.6 pounds. They are breaking in very nicely, as far as flexibility while walking. They are utterly comfortable, and I get an extra "jolt" to the ego from wearing them. Being a big, dominant kind of guy, I feel like they enhance the overall package.

My vanilla husband made a revealing comment after I had been wearing the boots for a month or so: He said "I would never order boots like that, but they sure are impressive!" I agree, and I've never worn them without hearing multiple admiring comments from complete strangers.

Review of the LL Bear Dance Party

I went to the LL Bear Dance Party this last Saturday, and I was shocked at how much I loved it. It's the real thing.

I haven't been to LL Bear for years, because it simply hadn't been my style. I'm a snob about dance-party events, having hosted so many myself (the Rampart dance party, at Shooterz bar, years ago). I like a Tribal-style event, where everybody feels connected, and nobody feels left out. I had made up my mind that RICHS was the wrong place to seek out such a thing. I'm glad to say that I was wrong!

The dynamic young men of CubClub have taken over the LL Bear party, and holy crap - I had a GREAT time.  These are the same guys who created and hosted the BELT party (the next one is coming up in March - details soon). I hadn't realized that they were hosting LL Bear until a few days ago. A lot gets by me these days.

I recently figured out that I have been going to gay-male dance-bars for 36 years, and I can't be bothered to waste time at many of the impersonal, unpleasant events that have been offered up over the years. It's a lot easier to just stay home in front of the computer. But, the computer can't supply you with the communal pleasures of dancing ecstatically among men who share your attitudes and desires. I got LOTS of that on Saturday night.

Everybody was friendly, it was cruisy as all hell, and I saw a bunch of great men that danced with me and with each other. The place was jammed.  The music was hot, exciting and always had a groove that was easy to get into. DJ Shane Stiel does a masterful job of keeping the energy going.

There was a full, large team making LL Bear a success, and the men dancing up onstage, handling the lighting-system and serving up the music were an active, dedicated part of the process. I deeply admire people who go after a project like it's crucial, meaningful and important… That MAKES it important for the folks who show up and can see a difference.

I can see that I'm going to have to build up more Boyfriend Points at home, in order to get away with adding one MORE monthly event to my calendar. My husband really doesn't mind much, because I come home so happy.

I came home very happy on Saturday night!

Upcoming Events

All right, all right - I'm FINE.  Please stop worrying about me!  I'm entirely over the "Chest Crud" (that's the medical term for it).  Thanks to everyone for their concern.  I hope that we are all in vibrantly good health from now on, because it's building up to be a busy year...

From now on, I'm going to link to my new "How to Fit Into the Tribe and Be Happy" article at the top of EVERY one of my Upcoming Events listings. It's that important to me.  Now that we have a continuous series of successful events, it's time to make them even MORE successful in terms of how welcome everyone feels. I've noticed that there are clusters of men who have the very best time, and I'm highly motivated to make those clusters grow at every event.

As one example…

The LL Bear Dance Party is this Saturday night.  Since that event normally lacks a dedicated Party Host (such as our Chris who runs the BearDance at Numbers), I figure that I can step in and get a VERY jolly crew together for a fun night.  One of my favorite DJ's will be on duty, so we don't have to worry about the music. Get your Disco Nap, then show up EARLY (about 10PM), come up to me directly and say "I'M CHECKING IN!". Things will get a heck of a lot more fun, really fast. We'll get sweaty, wild, and high on the endorphins of communal joy!  Woof!

As another example:

In a week or so, I will be hosting the Facebook Party.  That is a purely sociable event, and I will be handing out stickers that you can write your screen name upon. I will be mixing and mingling freely, doing my Cruise Director Thing, making sure that everybody is shifting from being virtual friends to the real kind. If it goes well, we might just make it a regular thing. It's nice to meet at bars, but sometimes we need a quieter environment for actual conversation.

How to Fit Into the Tribe and Be Happy

In the age of the Internet, many people are a bit socially awkward, because we aren't accustomed to going up to strangers and saying "Howdy!"  The part of our brain that gathers together the social graces to initiate actual, interpersonal contact has metaphorically withered away, replaced by texting and Grindring.

No problem whatsoever.

Here in San Diego's kinky gay-male community, you've got a secret weapon:

Me... Papa Tony.

If you're at an event… ANY event, and you see me (I'm always the tallest guy in the place), then come right up to me and say "I'M CHECKING IN!"  That way, I know that it's time for me to start introducing you around. It'll be fun!

I've got social skills like nobody you've ever met.  I have a rare personality type that allows me to talk to dozens of complete strangers all night long, and charm the heck out of them. My oldest brother told me that I've been this way since I was a baby, and I have never stopped. I've hosted hundreds of events that turn out joyfully for everybody who attends.

I also get to meet some great folks along the way, so if you want to be introduced to the nicest guys around, I know exactly who they are.  It's about as easy and automatic as breathing, for folks like me.

I make this offer, because it works. I can promise nearly 100% success, thanks to my natural enthusiasm and intuition. I truly give a damn about building better friendships among the members of our community. When I introduce like-minded people, they "stick". They don't wander away, bored.  They stay close with the rest of the crowd, chattering away, and feel great afterward.

Here in San Diego, we have lots and lots and lots of great events all of the time.  The only thing that can make them better is if everyone feels welcome, secure, and satisfied with the way that everyone treats them. Having a natural-born Cruise Director around is a great way to facilitate that feeling.

So, when you get out in public and see me, DON'T BE SUBTLE. Don't hint around, or expect me to be psychic about your intentions. March right up to me, look me directly in the eye and say "I'M CHECKING IN!"  You'll be glad that you did. I promise.

Upcoming Events

Still feeling unwell - This damned cold (or whatever it is) keeps coming back. Thus, the lateness of my posting. I will be at the LL Bear dance party on the 21st, because I know that I will love every song that DJ Shane will play - He proved his talents at the BELT party.  There is a fundraiser Chili Cook-Off on the 22nd, and many, many more events are in the planning stage for the rest of the year.
