PALM SPRINGS PRIDE GOES KINKY, Nov. 8-11

For years, there have been two separate weekends in Palm Springs that express Pride:

-First weekend in November is GLBT Pride, minus the kinky crowd (Nov. 3-4 this year)

-Second Weekend in November is always Leather Pride. (Nov. 8-11)

This system has been in place for a long, long time (I was there, helping out when the newly-formed Leather Pride started, in 2000, I believe).

However, the folks who run GLBT Pride are insisting that it's time to bring our kinky brothers back into the larger community, who has missed us all along.  Frankly, PS Leather Pride has kind of gotten moldy, in the sense that it has become more and more about exclusivity. There hasn't been any entry-point for younger folks to feel included and wanted. Now that there is a whole new generation who wants access and the benefits of Tribe, it's time to let in some fresh air.

So, Desert Fetish Authority (FMSD's brother club) is gladly supporting the goal of throwing the doors open wide, and letting the newer, energetic, curious and inexperienced folks have a taste of our culture. Their website says it better than I ever could. They are starting their own Leather Realm!

You should definitely attend the new Historical leather community exhibit during Palm Springs Pride.

There will be a full crew of FMSD brothers attending both weekends.  If you want to hang out with us and maybe find some lodging to share, keep me posted at papatony @mac.com.

San Diego is the first in the nation to honor this day by raising a flag, and we hope you join us for history in the making!

Then the big ceremony will be Tuesday evening the same date where the Leather Color Guard led by Kurt will take down the Transgender Flag at 6:45 PM followed by an open social event at The Center for refreshments and speeches by Community Leaders.
Both flag ceremonies will be held at the new Hillcrest Pride Flag location at Normal and University Streets.

Upcoming Events

ALERT ALERT ALERT

The huge, wildly wonderful BELT Party we had planned for October 27th is NOT happening until we can figure out what to do. We lost the venue (no idea why), which means that the team has a lot of reconfiguring and rethinking to look forward to.  I will keep you posted on further changes.

My viewpoint is that this hardly matters at all - We can move our traveling roadshow to any venue, straight or gay, anywhere in San Diego. We have the constituency and the credibility to just shift things around, and the crowds will show up.

LEATHER NIGHT SAN DIEGO STARTS IN ONE WEEK

The first monthly LEATHER NIGHT SAN DIEGO grouping of coordinated events begins on Friday, Oct. 12. It will happen on the Second Friday of every month:

- It starts at 7PM on the patio at Bamboo Lounge at 1475 University for a FORMAL GEAR DINNER BENEFIT to help add finances to Mr. San Diego Leather 2012 Aaron's Travel Fund. We're asking ten bucks per person as a suggested donation. This event will be hosted by Ron, who plans to run for Mr. San Diego Leather next year. "Formal" means no bare ass-cheeks or pecs. You do NOT have to be all gussied-up in expensive gear if you don't own any yet. Just stand tall and help us send Aaron out into the world as our ambassador!

- At 10PM, we are kicking off the new, monthly HARNESS dance partyThis fun event will be hosted by Mr. San Diego Eagle 2012 Eli.  At 11PM, we will have a dedication dance in honor of our brothers who are no longer among us.  When you hear a large crowd of men woofing like dawgs, you'll know that the special Dedication Dance is about to begin. There will also be flogging, bondage, mummification, electrical play and who knows WHAT else. These wild men are out of control!

- Simultaneously, for you men who need a rougher sort of action, the Eagle is now hosting its  WOLFS REVISITED back room party as a monthly event. Personally, I think they should call it MINESHAFT REVISITED, since I've been to both.

This monthly group of events will become much, much richer in content and shared goals as time goes by - we are still coordinating vendors, groups, and locations to get the excitement pumping every month, and maybe all weekend at some point. Men will travel from far away to come help us celebrate our Tribe's joy and brotherhood!

EXCLUSIVE NEW CONTACT-SYSTEM FOR PLAYERS IN SAN DIEGO

We now have such a high level of participation in our events, we are now able to create a sub-group called PLAYERS. These are men who are willing and able to show up at public events and enjoy some flogging, bondage, electrical play, mummification and so forth. The rest of the crowd always enjoys these efforts as pure entertainment, but for those men who are serious and share the same intentions, we now have a "flash mob" system where we can alert the entire team via text-messaging. That way, a slow evening at the Eagle can suddenly turn VERY frisky, as just one example.

Our first official gathering will be at the HARNESS Dance Party on Friday the 12th. There will be much more than just dancing going on!

There are currently 24 men on the list, and we are now taking applications. If you want to be on the list, you have to come up and talk to me (Papa Tony) about it, face to face, at one of our events. This new kind of network will be imitated in other cities as time goes by, but we have it here first.

This pre-HARNESS dinner is meant to show spirit, brotherhood and camaraderie for the events that bring us together as brothers in the San Diego gay fetishmen community.

And on a personal note, I would like to use this dinner as a small fundraising event, to help support the travel fund for sending our very own Aaron Duke, Mr. San Diego Leather, off to IML. The suggested donation is ten dollars per person.

Dance In Honor of Our Departed Brothers

Friday, October 12th, at 10PM

The first HARNESS monthly leathermen's dance party (hosted by Mr. San Diego Eagle 2012 Eli), will feature a very special song dedication, and you are invited to be a part of it.

The song will be the dance mix of "HIGH" by the Lighthouse Family, and it will be played at 11PM sharp, in honor of all of our brothers who are no longer with us.  Since they can't dance any more, then it is up to us to carry their memories in our hearts and DANCE FOR THEM.

To alert the crowd that the song is about to begin, a whole bunch of men will start woofing like dawgs.  I want to see the whole dance-floor jammed, and here's the best part:

Once that glorious song is over, all songs that follow are dedicated to our brothers who have made it through, and to our many new brothers who are carrying on our Tribal culture. Let's rejoice that we are finding each other again, and passing along what we know to our newest arrivals.  We're experiencing the best time of our community's history, and we have much to celebrate.

LET'S DANCE!
