The Lowdown: Everything You Need to Know Before You Go

The Lowdown: Everything You Need to Know Before You Go

Getting ready for our upcoming FMSD event? Here is the complete rundown on what to expect, house navigation, safety guidelines, and how we keep the space comfortable for everyone.

The Day at a Glance
  • Hour 1 (Social Hour): Music playing, casual mingling at your own pace.
  • Hour 2+ (Workshop): Educational demo begins; background music is turned way down or off.
  • After the Workshop: Open play space opens up for anyone interested. Participation is never mandatory!
  • Crowd Size: Typically 10–30 people, keeping things intimate and easy to navigate.
Arrival & Checking In
  • Parking: Street parking available. Arriving on time is recommended for a closer spot.
  • Entry: Enter through the side gate—look for the FMSD sign.
  • Check-In: Check in at the entrance table. Donations are optional.
  • Merch: Official FMSD shirts and pins are available for purchase at check-in.
The Spaces
  • Living Room & Kitchen: The central social hub with food, drinks, and music during the first hour.
  • Garage: Equipped with a Saint Andrew’s Cross and massage table.
  • Backyard: Play space featuring lounge furniture, shade umbrellas, and an open pool.
  • Decompression / Aftercare Area: Dedicated quiet space to rest and reset.
  • Bathrooms: Two restrooms available on site.
What to Wear & Bring
  • Dress Code: Clothing is optional throughout the event. Most attendees wear shorts and a t-shirt, casual leather/gear, or nothing at all. Wear whatever makes you feel good.
  • Potluck: Bring a dish or drink sized to serve 3–4 people. Please take any leftover food home at the end so nothing goes to waste.
  • Pool & Gear: Bring your own towel if you plan to use the pool.
For Our Sensory Friends
  • Sound Management: Music is limited to the living room during the initial social hour and lowered significantly or shut off during the workshop.
  • Calmer Zones: The backyard and back rooms offer lower-stimulation environments.
  • Comfort Items: Bring whatever you need to stay regulated (headphones, fidgets, blankets, comfort items)—zero judgment.
  • Zero Pressure: You are welcome to step away, decompress, or leave at any time.
Safety, Consent & Privacy
  • Safe, Sane & Consensual (SSC): All activities strictly follow SSC standards. Always ask before touching any person or their belongings. No means no, always and without exception.
  • Dungeon Monitors (DMs): DMs wear identifying lanyards and are introduced at the start of the workshop. Reach out to them at any point if you need support or mediation.
  • Photo Privacy: Prefer not to be photographed or posted online? Ask for a wristband at check-in so others know not to include you in photos.
